Level 830 by Petra Michelle
INT. HOME. CAPE MAY, NJ - DAY
Petra's surgery was coming up. To help remain calm and steady, she played a few rounds of Scrabble on her iPhone every day. But the monotony of winning most games prompted her to seek others.
Wordle? Wordzee? How about something non-words? she thought. Royal Match? Too complicated. Bubble Color Sort looks fun. After a few rounds -- too easy. Triple Match 3D. Seek out the required triplets and beat the timer. Hmm. Let's see.
In a week, she was at Level 100....
PETRA At this rate, I'll reach 500 in no time!
When she hit Level 830 and refusing to pay money for extra time, with no "fans," no "magnets," no "undoes," nor "freezes" left, she was stumped and hooked!
PETRA B, B, B...where are you B? Great! 5,5,5! Terrific! Oh, no! 5 seconds left. Bacon, bacon, bacon! Dang! Time's up!
A month had come and gone. Between surgery pre-testing and a painful spasm in the knee requiring upcoming physical therapy, she was bedridden and alternately playing Scrabble and Triple Match 3D. And there she remained at Level 830. Until today.
PETRA Focus! Backpack, backpack, backpack... B, B, B... 5,5,5... bacon, bacon, bacon...where are you bacon? (she screamed...the whole neighborhood heard she was sure) I did it! Level 831!
When she began 831,
PETRA You have got to be kidding me!
Only seconds later, did she come to the conclusion that the time spent on Triple Match 3D would have allowed her to complete her novel. Or at least her second draft.
PETRA Wrench, wrench, wrench!
FADE TO BLACK
